I was worried the matte white would look cheap in person, but it's actually a really soft, flat finish that makes the books pop. The scalloped sides are subtle enough that it doesn't feel too themed, and it fit perfectly under my bedroom window.

The scalloped edges give my living room that cottage feel I was going for, and the shelf depth actually fits my taller hardcovers without tipping. Took maybe 20 minutes to assemble with the included hardware.

The matte white finish makes my colorful paperback spines really pop against it. I was worried the scalloped top would look too cutesy in person but it reads more coastal farmhouse, which is exactly what I wanted for the guest room.
